2020 was certainly a challenging year and the COVID-19 pandemic certainly changed the way our EFP program interacted with farmers. We did not present an Environmental Stewardship Award, but that didn’t mean that there weren’t still a lot of deserving candidates for the award.

The hardest part in the award process was trying to narrow down the candidates and eventually selecting a winner as all of the finalist candidates over the years were deserving of recognition. Based on that realization, we have decided to introduce a new approach to highlight various farms throughout the year that are doing something unique (e.g. introducing new technology), or making a greater effort towards conservation (e.g. habitat biodiversity) or it could be as simple as just doing all of the little things right for a long time.
